Coca-Cola Canada has announced plans to transition all its 500-ml PET plastic bottles sold in Canada to same-sized containers made from 100% recycled PET by early 2024. The move is a significant step in the company’s commitment to sustainability, aiming to save 7.6 million pounds of new plastic and eliminate nearly 7,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually. The initiative is expected to create a circular economy for plastic packaging, as the recycled PET material will be used to manufacture new bottles. The bottles will feature visible recycling messaging to encourage consumer participation. Read more about Coca-Cola’s sustainability efforts.
