Compostable foodservice packaging introduced to reduce landfill waste

Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, is enhancing its sustainability efforts through a new partnership with Eco-Products, a Novolex brand. As part of the collaboration, compostable foodservice packaging will be introduced throughout the stadium to reduce landfill waste and improve fan experience. The ballpark, already certified by the U.S. Green Building Council for its energy, water, and waste practices, has previously achieved over 90% waste diversion with support from waste management company Recology. The latest initiative includes Eco-Products’ Controls Intended to Remove Contamination (CIRC) program, offering tools to minimize non-compostables in organic waste streams. Stakeholders from across operations, including foodservice providers and waste haulers, will work together to streamline composting efforts. Giants executive Alfonso Felder highlighted the importance of sustainable practices, while Aramark, the stadium’s hospitality provider, underscored the commitment to integrating eco-friendly solutions. The partnership marks a significant step forward in making Oracle Park one of the most sustainable venues in professional sports. Learn more about this initiative.
