Environmental group warns of a “tidal wave” of waste electric vehicle batteries

Greenpeace South Asia is estimating that 12.85 million tonnes of old electric vehicle batteries will go offline worldwide between 2021 and 2030, while more than 10 million tonnes of minerals will be mined for new batteries. They are calling on China, the world’s biggest user and manufacturer of electric vehicle batteries, to step up efforts to recycle and repurpose these batteries. Read more here.
