European Parliament approves ban on single-use plastics
On a vote of 571 to 53, the European Parliament approved a ban on single-use plastics such as straws, plates and cutlery in Europe by 2021. Single-use plastics that don’t yet have a practical alternative, such as burger and sandwich boxes, will be reduced by at least 25% by 2025. Read more about the EU’s plastics ban.
