FedEx and Pyxera Global have partnered to launch the Circular Supply Chain Coalition, which aims to increase the U.S. supply of critical minerals for new tech hardware by recycling discarded consumer electronics. With global demand for these minerals expected to rise significantly, the coalition plans to harness “urban mining” by sourcing materials from used electronics, which Americans discard at a rate of 8 million tons annually. By establishing local hubs for recycling and upcycling e-waste, the coalition aims to create green jobs in underserved communities. A pilot program in Tennessee tested the concept, and the coalition is seeking new partners to expand its efforts. Read more about the Circular Supply Chain Coalition.
