Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Visolis, a sustainable technology firm, are partnering to produce isoprene, a key ingredient in synthetic rubber, by upcycling biobased materials. Isoprene is traditionally a by-product of crude oil refining and is used to make rubber. Visolis will use their technology to generate high-quality isoprene from plant-based sources, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of the process.
