Helping food last longer without the use of harmful chemicals
Apeel, a company from California has created a layer of edible protection that can be applied to the surface of fresh produce to help them last longer and decrease food waste. The company extracts the lipid molecules from seeds and skins from plants to create the protective layer. It is distributed to companies as a powder that can be mixed with water and easily used on produce. It is completely edible, tasteless, odourless and plant-based.
