How to stop household waste from being shipped to developing countries

In one year alone, the UK produces 99kg of plastic waste per person, and exports about two-thirds of it to developing countries such as Malaysia, Pakistan and Vietnam. Much like the UK, these countries lack the infrastructure and capacity to recycle imported waste. As a result, this waste either ends up in landfill or waterways, or is altogether burned.
