A US-based start-up is working on developing the foundational technology that may enable seaweed to become the world’s most sustainable and scalable source of protein on Earth. According to the co-founder of Trophic, seaweed farms covering an area the size of Massachusetts could supply “enough protein to replace all the beef consumed in the world”.
