Lego aims to have half of the plastic in its bricks come from renewable or recycled sources by 2026 and switch entirely to these materials by 2032. Currently, 22% of their bricks are made from non-fossil fuel sources. Despite abandoning plans to make bricks from recycled bottles due to cost and production issues, Lego is investing heavily in sustainable materials and has pledged to increase its spending on sustainability to 3 billion Danish kroner (£340 million) annually by 2025 without passing the higher costs to consumers. Lego is exploring alternative materials and testing over 600 options while also expanding its brick takeback program, Replay, to more regions. Read more about Lego’s sustainability.
