Mastercard introduces UK pilot project for recycling plastic bank cards

Mastercard and HSBC are trialing a new system for recycling bank card plastic by allowing people to drop expired cards in secure boxes at HSBC banks. The cards are shredded and then sent to TerraCycle, a company known for managing hard-to-recycle materials, where the plastic is separated and molded into reusable pellets and powders.
