Melbourne woman runs Facebook group that showcases treasures in the trash
Catherine Krestyn, a Melbourne local, has shared her love of trash picking by starting a 6,000-member Facebook group called Boroondara Hard Rubbish Rehome, where people can post pictures of bulky items left for the landfill such as chairs, doors, lamps, ceramics. Members of the community can then collect the used items and give them a new home. Catherine estimates that the community group has diverted over 7,000 kg of garbage from landfill.
