Miami-based marine plastics upcycling company, SeaSweepers LLC, has completed a research mission to the Bahamas focused on marine plastics recycling. Partnering with local organizations like OceanAid360 and Harbour Island Green School, they conducted a cleanup removing nearly 10,000 pounds of debris to be recycled. The researchers assessed plastic pollution levels, particularly on Harbour Island and remote atolls, and collaborated with over 20 Bahamian organizations. SeaSweepers advocates for a circular economy approach to transform marine plastics into valuable resources, emphasizing sustainable solutions for the region’s environmental and economic benefit.
