New York has new smart compost bins to clean up the city

New smart compost bins have been installed at 10 locations on Staten Island to clean up New York City streets and reduce its rat problem. The bins will be accessible 24/7 via a newly-designed app called NYC Compost and are part of a broader plan to bring composting citywide, with a curbside composting program for all residents by the end of 2024. The smart bins form part of an ongoing effort to achieve citywide composting, which past administrations have been working towards for more than two decades. Read more.
