Canvus, a business in Avon, Ohio, has found a sustainable way to repurpose old wind turbine blades. Instead of letting them end up in landfills, Canvus turns retired wind turbine blades into furniture, including benches, tables, and fountains. Each wind turbine blade is cut into 40 to 50-foot pieces which are then processed and combined with other recycled materials such as rubber from tires and boards made from mixed plastics collected from the ocean. The company estimates it can keep 1,500 to 2,000 blades out of landfills annually. Read more about upcycling old wind turbine blades into furniture.
