Quebec government provides loan to polystyrene recycling company
Pyrowave is a company based in Montreal that develops technologies for recycling polystyrene into new products and has recently received a $7-million loan from the Quebec Government. The loan will be used to upgrade their recycling facility in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, where the plastic is shredded, and the chemical compounds are broken up with microwave technology. The process releases lower carbon emissions, and the remaining chemicals are identical to raw materials used by plastic manufacturers. Read how this loan will help recycle some post-consumer plastics that can be used by local manufacturers.
