Sale of refurbished electronic products on eBay helped divert 2.9 million kg of waste in 2022 in the UK
Refurbished technology is gaining popularity as a solution to the growing issue of electronic waste. With an estimated 5 billion electronic devices being discarded each year, there is increasing interest in extending the lifespan of these products through refurbishment. In the UK alone, two million tonnes of e-waste are discarded annually. According to eBay UK’s Head of Refurbished Technology, Mark Monte-Colombo, selling refurbished products on eBay UK helped avoid over 2.8 million kg of waste in 2022.
