Scientists discover low temperature plastic-digesting microbes

pile of plastic waste

In a significant development in recycling research, scientists from the Swiss Federal Institute WSL have found microbes that can digest plastic at low temperatures of 15C rather than only at temperatures above 30C as was previously discovered. This finding means that industries will have a carbon neutral, cost effective way of using microbes to recycle plastic. Read more about plastic-digesting microbes.
