Scientists use lasers and machine learning to sort waste for recycling

Researchers at Hefei University of Technology in China have proposed a new method of waste sorting that uses lasers and machine learning to help collectors identify the elemental composition of waste. The researchers believe that this technology could improve recycling sorting for materials like paper, glass, plastic, metal, textiles, and more.
