U.S. Customs and Border Protection has launched a new program to recycle single-use aluminum, paper, and plastic products from international flights arriving in the U.S. This initiative involves collaboration between the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, and the International Air Transport Association. Previously, international flight waste had to be incinerated or sterilized upon arrival. Under the new program, airlines can recycle these materials if they meet certain safeguards. The program is expected to handle around 67 million pounds of recyclables annually. Read more about the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s new recycling program.
