UAE approves 22 policies to accelerate transition to a circular economy

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Circular Economy Council has approved 22 policies to accelerate the country’s transition to a circular economy as part of its push toward sustainable economic development. The new policies will focus on four main sectors: manufacturing, food, infrastructure, and transport to help the country meet its pledge to reach its net-zero carbon goal by 2050. The Council also identified at least 16 circular economy activities that open business opportunities, such as upcycling textile waste into new products, developing artificial intelligence-enabled waste management solutions and remanufacturing electronic waste.
