UK startup upcycles bark into 100% bio-based packaging that fully decomposes

Bpacks, a UK-based startup, offers a sustainable packaging solution made from bark that integrates seamlessly into existing production processes. With up to 75% of materials sourced from production waste, Bpacks produces 100% bio-based packaging that decomposes fully within one to two months. Unlike traditional biodegradable polymers derived from plants like corn and sugarcane, which divert resources from food production, bark-based material decomposes quickly and enriches soil. Bpacks’ technology emits up to six times fewer CO2 emissions than traditional plastic production methods and offers antimicrobial properties.
