US Plastics Pact releases Roadmap 2.0, a strategic plan to promote circular economy for plastic
The US Plastics Pact has released Roadmap 2.0, a strategic plan that promotes a circular economy where plastic packaging is reused, recycled, composted, and retained within the economy. Building on the initial Roadmap to 2025, this updated plan sets targets to address plastic waste and drive systemic change across the plastics value chain. New goals in Roadmap 2.0 include reuse innovations, designing packaging for circularity, eliminating problematic plastics, improving recycling efficiency, and addressing social impacts and disparities related to plastic production and use. The plan emphasizes cross-sector collaboration and innovation, working with global initiatives like the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Plastics Pact Network. Roadmap 2.0 will begin on January 1, 2026, allowing companies 18 months to prepare for these new challenges and objectives. Read more about US Plastics Pact’s Roadmap 2.0.
