US postal service sets sustainability targets including reducing waste with circular economy principles
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced new sustainability targets for its 2030 fiscal year. The goals include reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste across all levels of its operations. The USPS plans to achieve these targets through initiatives like reducing operating costs by $5 billion, optimizing transportation networks, and insourcing previously outsourced operations. The sustainability plan focuses on climate action, circular economy principles, and environmental awareness. By fiscal year 2030, USPS aims to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 40% and Scope 3 emissions by 20%.
