Vegan food company launches animal protein substitute made from upcycled surplus farm produce

The Spare Food Co. has launched Spare Starter, a plant-based ingredient blend made from surplus farm produce that can partially substitute animal protein in dishes like burgers and meatballs. The product, comprising six vegetables, uses parts of vegetables that are typically discarded in the food production process. Spare Starter aims to address concerns in the culinary landscape, including reducing food waste, battling labor shortages, saving time, lowering food costs, and promoting a plant-based menu.
