Walmart Canada is giving old toys a chance at new life

Colourful assorted children's toys on white table

In partnership with Mattel, Walmart is looking for non-donatable toys to recycle and keep these valuable materials out of landfills. Accepted toys include board games; paper, cardboard, metal, rigid plastic and wood toys; action figures; dolls; and plush toys. Once the toys have been collected, they are cleaned and separated by material type. Then, they are processed and broken down into raw materials for toy manufacturers to create new toys.
