World’s first fully compostable footwear on the way

Balena, an Israeli-based company, has developed shoes made from a combination of natural materials bound by polymers and modifiers, making them fully biodegradable. Some sandals use leftover cinnamon from an Israeli tea manufacturer to add small speckles of colour while also smelling great. Once consumers are finished with their shoes, they can be dropped off for industrial composting and are decomposed within a few weeks. Learn more.
