Youth voices and involvement for the environment

Youth hand in soil planting

August 12 is International Youth Day, an awareness day designated by the United Nations to give the opportunity to celebrate and highlight young peoples’ voices, actions, and initiatives, as well as their meaningful, universal and equitable engagement. The 2022 theme is “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages”.

The Government of Canada has released Canada’s first State of youth report: for youth, with youth, by youth. The publication provides essential insights on the issues that matter most to youth in Canada and shares their advice on what they would like to see addressed in Budget 2022. From youth mental health to affordable housing, to the environment and climate change, their input continues to help the government target programs and services to those who need them most. Read the publication and the section on environment and climate action.
