The Blue Box, HSP and Lighting Registry portals are now open

RPRA has launched the new Blue Box, Hazardous and Special Products (HSP), and Lighting Registry portals.

Producers of Blue Box materials and HSP are required to submit their supply data to RPRA and pay their associated 2022 program fee by October 31, 2022.

Producers of lighting are required to register, submit their supply data and pay their associated 2022 program fee by November 30, 2022. Lighting haulers, refurbishers and processors are required to register with RPRA by November 30.

What do Blue Box producers need to report?

Producers must complete the following when reporting:

  • Confirm if their revenue is above or below the $2 million threshold
  • Provide 2021 supply data in each of the seven material categories
    • Beverage container, glass, flexible plastic, rigid plastic, metal, paper, and certified compostable products and packaging
  • Provide, if applicable, any deductions
  • Provide a list of the brands that make up their 2021 supply data
  • Newspaper producers will need to identify what percentage their newspaper supply counts towards their total Blue Box materials supplied
  • Pay the associated 2022 program fee

What do HSP producers need to report?

Producers of categories A and B must:

  • Provide supply data by reporting the total weight of materials supplied to consumers in Ontario in 2021.
  • Provide a list of brands supplied into Ontario in 2021.
  • Pay the associated 2022 program fee.

Producers of categories C, D, and E are not required to submit supply data from 2021. However, they must:

  • Confirm if their revenue is above or below the $2 million threshold.
  • Provide a list of brands supplied into Ontario in 2021.
  • Pay the associated 2022 program fee.

Note: At this time, obligated producers of factory fill antifreeze are not required to include the weight of factory fill antifreeze when they report the total weight of obligated antifreeze they supplied. The deadline for reporting factory fill antifreeze supply will be communicated at a later date.

What do lighting producers need to report?

Producers must complete the following when reporting:

  • Provide the weight of lighting materials supplied in Ontario in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
  • If applicable, provide the weight of post-consumer recycled content (glass or plastic) contained in the lighting materials supplied in Ontario each year.
  • Pay the associated 2022 program fee.
