Participate in the joint Deloitte-RPRA Webinar – Ontario Electronic Stewardship Final Wind-Up Steps and Residual Fund Disbursement

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. RPRA and the Ontario Electronic Stewardship’s (OES) court-appointed liquidator Deloitte Restructuring Inc. will host an online information session to provide an update on OES’ financial position and the status of the organization’s Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) matters. RPRA and Deloitte will also provide an update on the final steps to be taken to wind up OES, including the plan to disburse program residual funds.

Register for the webinar here.

After all wind-up activities are completed, as described in the approved OES Wind Up Plan, remaining residual funds will be transferred to RPRA to be used to offset expenses related to RPRA’s producer responsibility program for electronics.

In 2022, RPRA consulted stakeholders on how OES’ residual funds could be applied to reduce future fees for electronics producers once OES completes its liquidation.

Based on the feedback received during the consultation, RPRA determined that the following steps would be taken:

  1. RPRA will open a low-risk, interest-bearing bank account to hold the OES residual funds after they are transferred by the liquidator to RPRA.
  2. Once the OES Liquidator has resolved all outstanding financial matters and the full amount of remaining residual funds is known, the full amount of OES residual funds will be transferred to RPRA to reduce RRCEA Program Fees for electronics producers to $0.
  3. Remaining funds will be applied in the same manner to future payment cycles until the residual funds are exhausted.
