Minister extends timeline for launch of the Hazardous Waste Digital Reporting Service

On April 12, 2021, the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks issued new directions to the Authority extending the launch date of the Hazardous Waste Digital Reporting Service from January 1, 2022 to January 1, 2023.

The Authority advised the Minister to extend the timeline by one year to ensure the regulated community has sufficient time to adapt to the new system and so the Authority can engage stakeholders in meaningful consultation to understand their needs throughout the development of the digital reporting service.

The Authority and its technology partners, PwC Canada and Vyana, will work in close coordination with the ministry and affected stakeholders, including generators, carriers, and receivers of hazardous and liquid industrial waste throughout the development and implementation of the new digital reporting service. The Authority anticipates engaging stakeholders in the coming weeks when the project formally kicks off.
