Sweden opens first automatic large-scale textile sorting plant

Siptex just became the world’s first automated large-scale textile sorting plant, filling a much-needed role in collecting used textiles and recycling them into high-quality material. The plant should be able to sort 24000 tonnes of textile waste per year by using infrared technology that sees beyond the human eye to sort fabric by fiber type as well as colour.
