TerraCycle, a Toronto-based environmental organization, is addressing Halloween candy wrapper plastic with its Zero Waste Box program. Most candy wrappers are difficult to recycle due to their mix of materials, so TerraCycle’s program has set up special boxes placed in public spaces that will collect candy wrappers to be remolded into pellets for making new products. TerraCycle has already recycled approximately 15 million candy wrappers through this program in North America. Read more about the Zero Waste Box program.
